As the seasons begin to change here in the Amazon once again, October has been a month of growth, learning, and connection for us here at NGO SemillasLife. This month, we are thrilled to share that we raised nearly $1,500 USD, which is a testament to the support of our community. Thank you for keeping our projects alive and thriving. Let's look into the highlights of this month!

📚 Education Project
We are excited to announce the launch of our wildlife education program at a small school just outside Codo del Pozuzo. The enthusiasm has been infectious, with teachers, parents, and children all embracing the initiative with open arms. To ensure the program’s continued success, we've implemented a new data system that maintains lesson quality and provides a seamless transition for new volunteers. This system is a vital tool that will help us nurture the next generation of environmental stewards.
🧪 New Research: Understanding Life Between Village and Reserve
This month, we also began an exciting research collaboration with Dr. Aichinger. Together, we are studying the differences and connections between the species living in the village and those found inside the nature reserve.
By collecting data on species presence, behaviour, and habitat use, we hope to understand how human activity influences local biodiversity.
The ultimate goal:To build a clearer picture of how wildlife and local communities can thrive side by side and to identify conservation actions that best support both the forest and the families who call this region home.
This research will guide future efforts, ensuring our work is rooted in real science and aligned with the needs of the Amazon’s ecosystems and communities. 🌿✨
⛺ Volunteer Nature Trip
This month, we organized a special camping trip inside the reserve as a token of appreciation for our dedicated volunteers. It was an extraordinary opportunity to connect with nature while also supporting the reserve financially. The trip not only rejuvenated our spirits but also reinforced our commitment to preserving the natural beauty that surrounds us.
🌳 Reforestation Update
Our much-anticipated reforestation event was unfortunately postponed due to unpredictable weather conditions. This experience reminds us of the patience and adaptability that nature often requires. We remain hopeful and eager to resume the project in November. Each delay teaches us valuable lessons in perseverance and the importance of aligning with nature’s rhythms.
🔮 Looking Ahead
As we look forward to the coming months, we anticipate fewer volunteers due to the holiday season in November and December. Despite this, our commitment to teaching and preparing for future activities remains steadfast. We are determined to continue planting seeds of knowledge and growth, ensuring that our efforts today create a resilient Amazon for tomorrow.
💚 Conclusion
We are profoundly grateful for the support and dedication of our volunteers and community. Every seed planted, every child taught, and every action taken makes a significant difference in the health of the Amazon. Progress doesn’t always come quickly, but perseverance pays off. Together, we can ensure that the Amazon continues to breathe a little easier. Thank you for being part of this journey. Let’s keep growing. together.
